Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• A unique account identifier

We collect information about how you use the app:

• Stories you start and your progress within them
• Decisions you make during gameplay
• Token purchases and usage

Device Information

We may collect basic device information for app functionality and troubleshooting, such as device type and operating system version.

Website Analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our site. This service collects anonymized data including pages visited, time on site, and general geographic location (country/region level, derived from IP address). We have configured Google Analytics in cookieless mode, meaning no tracking cookies are stored on your device.

AI-Generated Content

Yarn Tales uses artificial intelligence to generate story content. We have designed our system so that no personal, account, or device data is sent to AI providers. The AI receives only non-identifying fictional narrative state: genre, setting, fictional characters, plot points, and which story option you selected (a number, not tied to your identity).

Specifically, the following are never sent to any AI service:

• Your email address, name, or account identifier
• Your device information or IP address
• Your account-level reading history, token balance, or purchase information
• Any data that could identify you personally

Your identity and the AI are completely separate by design. The AI knows about the fictional story world and nothing else.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in the United States. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

• Service providers who assist in operating our app (e.g., cloud hosting, payment processing)
• Law enforcement when required by law

You may:

• Access your account data through the app
• Delete your account (see "Account Deletion & Data Retention" below)
• Contact us with questions about your data

Account Deletion & Data Retention

You can delete your account at any time from within the app. When you delete your account:

What Gets Deleted

• Your authentication credentials (login access is permanently removed)
• Your profile information (email address, display name, preferences)
• Any active subscriptions are canceled immediately
• All remaining token balances are forfeited

What Is Retained

We retain certain records in anonymized form: transaction history, reading progress, and feedback. Once your profile and authentication credentials are deleted, these records are keyed only by an opaque identifier with no way to re-identify you. They are no longer personally identifiable information and are retained for service analytics and improvement.

Account deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed. If you later create a new account, it will start fresh with no connection to your previous account.

Children's Privacy

Yarn Tales is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the effective date.
