Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Yarn Tales, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Beta Service

Yarn Tales is currently in beta. By using the service, you acknowledge and agree that:

• Features may be added, modified, or removed without notice
• The service may experience downtime, bugs, or data loss
• Your feedback may be used to improve the service
• We may reset or delete data during the beta period
• Service performance and availability are not guaranteed

3. Description of Service

Yarn Tales is an AI-powered branching fiction application where stories are written as you explore them. Users read story segments and make decisions that shape the narrative—with millions of possible paths per story.

4. Account Registration

To use Yarn Tales, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

5. Exploration Tokens and Purchases

Token System

• Exploration tokens unlock access to story chapters beyond the free content
• Chapter 1 of each story is always free
• Some stories include a complete free path (no tokens required)
• Exploring other paths requires one exploration token per chapter

Token Types

• Token pack tokens: Bought via token packs in-app or on our website. Never expire.
• Subscription tokens: Granted monthly with paid subscriptions. Roll over month-to-month, up to 2x your monthly grant. Expire at the end of your billing period if you cancel or downgrade to the free tier.

Spend Order

Subscription tokens are always spent before token pack tokens.

Purchases

• All purchases are final and non-refundable, except as required by applicable law
• Tokens have no cash value and cannot be transferred, sold, or exchanged
• Tokens represent a limited license to access content, not ownership of any asset

6. User Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the app or servers
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
• Use automated systems or bots to access the app

7. Content

AI-Generated Content

Story content is generated by artificial intelligence. While we implement content guidelines, AI-generated content may occasionally be unexpected or inconsistent. We do not guarantee the quality, accuracy, or appropriateness of all generated content.

Content Ownership

• Hendrix Consulting LLC owns all rights to the app and its underlying technology
• AI-generated story content is owned by Hendrix Consulting LLC
• Generated stories may be viewed by other users who explore the same paths

8. Intellectual Property

The Yarn Tales name, logo, and all related marks are trademarks of Hendrix Consulting LLC. You may not use our trademarks without prior written permission.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hendrix Consulting LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hendrix Consulting LLC from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the app or violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the app at any time, with or without cause. Upon termination, your right to use the app ceases immediately.

Token Handling Upon Termination

• Termination for cause (e.g., violation of these Terms): All tokens, both token pack and subscription, are forfeited.
• Termination without cause: Token pack tokens remain available if you create a new account within 90 days. Contact support to transfer your balance. Subscription tokens expire as normal.

Voluntary Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time from within the app. When you do:

• All tokens (both token pack and subscription) are forfeited immediately
• Any active subscription is canceled immediately where possible; for platforms that do not support server-side cancellation (e.g., Apple), you must cancel through your platform settings to stop billing
• Account deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed
• Anonymized usage data (transaction history, reading progress, feedback) is retained as described in our Privacy Policy

13. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
